Family Caregivers

The Western Area Respite Program is sponsoring Family Movie activities across the Panhandle. If you do not see your theatre listed, please encourage them to contact Sherri Blome at sherri.blome@wchr.net or by calling 866-RESPITE. We want family caregivers to be able to attend a fun event with their family or they can choose to have a little respite while their respite provider attends with the family.

We are proud to announce our new NLRN Virtual Learning Series! Join us via Zoom on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 12:00pm (CT) to learn about various caregiving resources. This is an opportunity to learn more about caregiving, connect with fellow caregivers, meet the Respite team, and ask questions. Our first session kicks off in September with an overview of the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network, followed by a course on Enable Savings Accounts, the Disabled Children's Program & Medically Handicapped Children's Program, and the Aging and Disability Resource Center. Take a break from cooking, dishes, and judgement at our sensory-friendly Halloween Pizza Party. Hosted by Autism Eats, Munroe Meyer Institute, and the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network, join us on Friday, October 18th from 6-8pm at Zio's Pizza near 132nd and West Center. Enjoy a dinner buffet of pizza, chicken, fries, salad, and soft drinks as well as dessert and lots of candy! Costumes are welcome.
