The Respite Care Provider Training (RCPT), a competency-based entry level respite provider training curriculum, developed by the Respite Care Association of Wisconsin as part of the ARCH/National Academy for State Health Policy Respite Provider Recruitment and Training Initiative, is designed for people who are interested in providing respite care to individuals with varying disabilities and ages across the lifespan. Each course in the training meets at least one of the Respite Care Professional Core Competencies and was field tested in ten states.

The PTI website has a long list of workshop options and a full calendar (and plenty of resources). All PTI Nebraska’s workshops are available to any group or community upon request and can be adapted for parents, caregivers, students, educators, administrators, and health professionals. The divisional categories are used only to make finding a particular workshop topic easier. The workshops are available in English and Spanish.

The demand for skilled respite care providers in Nebraska is growing! The purpose of this free orientation is to give you basic information about what to expect as a respite provider. Feel free to start and stop the orientation as needed to fit your schedule. Most are able to complete the orientation in about one hour. You will receive a certificate of completion after successfully completing the orientation.
