Recognizing Nebraska’s Family Caregivers: A Statewide Commitment
On November 4, 2025, Nebraska once again came together to honor the dedication and compassion of family caregivers. During a special ceremony at the Nebraska State Capitol, Governor Jim Pillen officially proclaimed November as Family Caregivers Month in Nebraska.
Hosted in the historic Warner Chamber, the event brought together advocates, organizations, and community members united by a shared mission: to recognize and support the thousands of Nebraskans who care for loved ones with chronic conditions, disabilities, or age-related needs.
This year’s proclamation shines a light on the growing number of caregivers in our state—over 300,000 Nebraskans who provide essential, unpaid care every day. Their contributions sustain families, strengthen communities, and form the backbone of Nebraska’s long-term care system.
The Nebraska Caregiver Coalition continues to lead the way in elevating caregiver voices through advocacy, education, and connection. Their efforts—alongside dedicated partners like Answers4Families, which livestreamed the event to ensure access for caregivers statewide—make this recognition possible.
Following the signing, participants gathered on the Capitol lawn for a ribbon-tying ceremony, with each ribbon representing a caregiver’s story and the powerful network of care that binds Nebraska together.
Organizations including AARP Nebraska joined in the celebration, reaffirming their support for policies and programs that ease the challenges of caregiving and honor those who give so much of themselves to others.
As we celebrate Family Caregivers Month, let’s carry this recognition forward—raising awareness, building support, and continuing the movement to ensure every caregiver in Nebraska feels seen, valued, and supported.
💙 Thank you to all Nebraska caregivers. Your care makes a difference every day.
